Camry & Jadyn’s Intimate San Juan Mountains Elopement

When Camry and Jadyn decided to elope, they knew they wanted to exchange their vows somewhere that felt extraordinary and entirely their own. For them, that place was deep in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. High above an impossibly blue alpine lake, surrounded by rugged peaks stretching in every direction, they found the kind of place that makes everything else seem to fall away. There were no rows of chairs, no crowded venue and no audience waiting for them. Just the two of them, the mountains, and the quiet.

It was exactly what they had imagined for their wedding day.

Into the San Juan Mountains

Reaching a place this remote is part of what makes it so special. Camry and Jadyn hired a local Jeep tour company in Ouray, Colorado, to take us deep into the mountains, following rugged backcountry roads to one of the San Juans' spectacular high-alpine overlooks. Before changing into their wedding attire, we stopped to take a few photographs overlooking the brilliant blue water below. There was no need to rush. Their day had been intentionally designed to leave room to explore, take in the scenery and simply enjoy being there together.

Then it was time to get married. They changed into their wedding attire in the mountains before sharing a private first look. Against the dramatic backdrop of the San Juans, we created portraits before finding a quiet place for them to exchange their vows. There was something beautifully simple about it.

Two people standing in an enormous landscape, promising their lives to one another with no distractions and no expectations about what their wedding day was supposed to look like.

Only what felt right to them.

A Little Adventure After “I Do”

Their wedding day didn't end with the ceremony. After their vows, our Jeep carried us back down into a lower alpine basin, where the landscape changed from exposed rocky peaks to soft green meadows surrounded by mountains. Here, Camry and Jadyn slowed everything down with a rustic picnic and a short paddleboarding session, a playful, completely personal way to spend part of their first afternoon as a married couple. Afternoon storms began moving through the mountains, bringing cooler air and the kind of dramatic weather that is so characteristic of summer in the San Juans. Rather than taking away from the experience, it became part of the story of the day.

Champagne, Mountain Roads & the Ride Home

Before leaving the mountains, there was one final celebration: champagne. With a bottle popped against the backdrop of the peaks, Camry and Jadyn celebrated being officially married before climbing back into the Jeep for the adventurous drive out of the mountains. From there, we made our way toward Silverton, where they would spend their first night as a married couple. It was an elopement that felt beautifully balanced, remote without being complicated, adventurous without feeling rushed, and filled with experiences that genuinely reflected who they are. And perhaps that is what I love most about San Juan Mountains elopements. Your wedding day doesn't have to be built around a venue or a traditional timeline.

It can be built around how you want the day to feel.

Maybe that means standing above an alpine lake and exchanging vows where no one else can hear them. Maybe it means a Jeep ride into the mountains, a picnic in an alpine meadow, paddleboards and champagne. Or maybe it looks completely different. The beauty of eloping is that you get to decide.

For Camry and Jadyn, it looked like wild mountains, blue water, quiet vows and just enough adventure.

And it was exactly right.
